Clark has been exhibiting in group and solo shows since the late 1970s, appearing most recently in "Optical Simulations" (2005) at American Abstract Artists, Newburgh, New York. He has been honored with grants from, among others, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts. A 1974 graduate of Kutztown State College, Clark has taught at a wide variety of colleges and universities, including Bennington College, the Vermont Studio Center, Bard College, Parsons School of Art and Design, Princeton University, and the University of Connecticut at Storrs. He was a visiting artist at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1995 and was featured in the 95th Annual Exhibition in 2006.
